Fall Decorating

Posted on

I have a love/hate relationship with this time of year.  I love fall and all its beautiful colors, although I hate ragweed.  I love the daytime temperatures of 70-75 degrees, but really dislike a cold tile floor in the morning. I love the holidays, yet I hate that 3 of them (Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas) are within 2 months of each other.

Decorating the House for Fall

Seasonal decorations need to be on a revolving door, as the holidays come and go sooo quickly! As I’ve gotten older, I have learned to consolidate my “fall” seasonal decoration. I basically forgo the “Halloween” decorations and just put out “fall” items.  I replace flowers/greenery with “fall” colors, and put out pumpkins and gourds. Last year I bought a couple of squirrels to add to my fall cache. Pretty simple stuff, but cozy. Fall should be cozy!

My house stays “in season” from the middle of September to Thanksgiving. Yes, I’m probably one of the few, but I keep my ‘fall’ decorations up till AFTER Thanksgiving. I believe Thanksgiving deserves what it was meant for…to be thankful! Here are a few displays I put up this past week.  I would love to hear how you decorate your home for the fall season.
